News: Have Your Say
The deadline for community feedback on Council's footpath and laneway policies has been extended to 31 March.
Posted: Saturday, 5 March 2016
Residents are invited to have their say on Council’s draft policy for
footpaths. This policy outlines the Council’s priorities in regard to the
provision and reconstruction of footpaths, identifies where footpaths are to be
constructed and establishes design standards. The policy also provides guidance
to Government, developers and residents on the Council’s priorities and
requirements in relation to the provision of footpaths within the Council area. A copy of the
policy is available from http://barkly.nt.gov.au/uploads/agendas/Agenda-Ord... (Pgs.
187-191)
Residents are also invited to have their say on Council’s draft policy
for walkways and lanes. Council provides and maintains a network of essential
walkways within the municipality to facilitate the movement of pedestrians and
cyclists to and between public facilities. The policy addresses the requirements
for new walkways and procedures for dealing with requests for closure of
walkways to address anti-social behaviour, plus guidance for developers in
relation to development adjacent to new or existing walkways. A copy of the policy is available from http://barkly.nt.gov.au/uploads/agendas/Agenda-Ord... (Pgs. 192-197)
