About the Role

The position of Library Officer – Tennant Creek is responsible for providing library services to the community ensuring patrons have a positive library experience by delivering high-quality patron service.

 Library services include borrowing and returning library collections, enabling digital inclusion, maintaining its collection, organising and providing community programs to patrons of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and abilities e.g., storytelling, technology programs, and arts and craft.

 

The Essentials

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general library procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited direction, meet deadlines, prioritise workloads, and organise effective and efficient use of time.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to adapt to or learn new systems and software.
  • A current National Criminal History Check (within the last 3 months).
  • A current Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).

  • You will have a proven track record in developing and managing engaging programs tailored to the interests and needs of patrons, fostering a love for learning and exploration.
  • You are innovative and culturally aware, capable of adapting to challenges while meeting the diverse needs of the community through inclusive and accessible library services.
  • You have the availability to work Saturday mornings.

 

The Finer Details

  • Part-Time position paying Level 4 Pay Point 1 of the Barkly Regional Council Enterprise Agreement 2023.
  • Hourly Rate of $31.33 per hour
  • Tennant Creek Zone Allowance of $1.89 per ordinary hour.
  • 11.5% Superannuation. 
  • Annual Leave with 17.5% Leave Loading.

  • Additional hours may be available in the event the team leader is away.
