The Church received almost $40,000 in funding to repair its Sidney Williams hut in the NT Government’s Heritage Grants Program announced this week.

Tourism and Culture Minister Lauren Moss said the annual Grants Program supported local communities to preserve, research or record sites of significance, and also generated jobs in the Northern Territory.

“The Program funds projects where important conservation work is required for buildings and other structures, Aboriginal archaeological sites, places of social significance and natural significance including flora, fauna and geological sites,” Ms Moss said.

“The funds also provide additional employment opportunities for contractors carrying out upgrades or restoration works.”

Fr John Kennedy said the restoration work would be carried out next year and would be greatly welcomed by parishioners and those who attend events at the church.
