News: Community Discussions: Low Aromatic Fuel Act

Residents have been invited to attend community discussions on reviewing the Act to reduce petrol sniffing in Tennant Creek.

Posted: Monday, 31 August 2015

The Australian Government wants to know the views of residents of Tennant Creek and Barkly communities on using the Low Aromatic Fuel Act (2013) to reduce the impact of petrol sniffing in town.
This means that regular unleaded fuel would no longer be available in Tennant Creek and also means that supplying regular unleaded would be an offence.
Government representatives want to know:
What effect (past and current) has petrol sniffing had on the Tennant Creek community?
Would the prohibition of regular unleaded fuel in your region have:
- benefits in terms of reduced petrol sniffing?
- negatives on you or your business?
Two sessions about the Act will be held on Tuesday, 8 September, at the Kargaru Conference Room, Tennant Creek Training Centre, 65 Staunton Street, from 10am-12noon or 6pm-8pm.
The submission process closes on Sunday, 20 September with submission options including Online www.lowaromaticunleaded.gov.au or email lowaromaticunleaded@pmc.gov.au or by phone 1800 383 393.
